CEDRIC “Burkie” Burke was released from police custody after being arrested again without being charged.

On Sunday Burke, 38, was arrested at his Production Avenue, Sea Lots home around 7 am along with Akani “Dole” Adams and others from the area. Burke and Adams were released on Monday around 3 am after being held at the St Joseph CID for questioning.

Burke was held in connection with several shootings and at least three murders in the Laventille area days before his arrest. Police seized his cellphone before releasing him.

He was also arrested on July 3 and questioned about $200,000 which he had, but was released two days later and the money returned to him. He gave police evidence that the money was withdrawn from his bank account for business. Burke is the owner of three businesses. His home was raided in February and he was arrested then during a three day police exercise in the Port of Spain division.

On Sunday, police also arrested other men deemed to be of interest to them from the Beetham and Sea Lots communities and all but one were released after he was charged with using obscene language and resisting arrest.

Burke, who is suing the State after his arrest during the 2011 state of emergency, says he is now exploring his legal options after his latest arrest.
