Tough day for TT at Pan Am Under-20

IT was a rough day for TT at the 2019 Pan American Under-20 Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica, yesterday, ending the opening day with no medals at the junior track and field meet.

Justin Guy was the only athlete to qualify for a final, but unfortunately he was disqualified in the 110-metres men's hurdles final. American Eric Edwards won gold in 13.11 seconds. Earlier in the semifinals, Guy just qualified for the final after finishing fifth in heat one in 13.96.

In the women's 100m semifinals, Akilah Lewis and Ayla Stanisclaus could not qualify for the final. Lewis was fourth in heat one in 11.71 and Stanisclaus was third in heat three in 11.67.

In heat one of the women's 400m semifinals, Taejha Badal was sixth in 54.80 and Tatianna Martinez was seventh in 55.47 as both athletes failed to advance.

The women's 100m hurdles was also a difficult event for TT, as Tamia Badal ended sixth in heat one of the semifinals in 13.90 and did not advance. In the men's 400m semifinals, Che Lara was fifth in heat three in 47.34 and also could not make it to the finals.
