THE National Petroleum Marketing Company Ltd (NP) said today quick action resolved a fuel issue at its Diego Martin service station on Wednesday. In a release, NP said super gasoline was inadvertently discharged into the diesel fuel storage tank around 1 pm on that day.
The sale of diesel at the station was immediately suspended and maintenance technicians sent to the site to remove the super gasoline from the tank. Remedial action was taken to flush the entire system.
NP said the sales of super and premium gasoline at the station were not affected by this incident and a new supply of diesel has since been delivered to the station. NP said a full investigation and analysis of the matter is being done.
The company said it maintains strict compliance with standard procedures for the receipt of fuel at its service stations and continues to emphasise to its site operators and dealers the importance of following established procedure to ensure drivers receive good-quality fuel.
