Hinds a no-show in court: Matter postponed to September

Laventille West MP Fitzgerald Hinds was not at the Port of Spain Magistrate's Court to act as witness this morning as he was in Cabinet.

Hinds, who was expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate in the matter of an altercation in the Beetham Gardens last year, did not appear. The summary of evidence and other documents were requested by the defendant's attorney.

Sources said the accused Anderson Williams, who is charged with using obscene language against Hinds, has retained an attorney since his last hearing.

This attorney is requesting full disclosure of evidence, including the police station diary on the day the incident reportedly took place.

The matter is expected to resume on September 10.
