Fire Fitness 5K in Arima August 3

FIRE Fitness Road Running Club will hold its second annual 5K run/walk event, We Run Arima, at the Arima Velodrome on August 3 from 4 pm.

A press release said, “The race has become a part of the Arima Borough Day calendar of events. It is meant to highlight and build the sport of distance running in Arima, as well as to familiarise participants with the history and significance of the only royal chartered borough in the western hemisphere. It is the organisation’s push for more local and sport tourism.”

The National Association of Athletics Administrations has endorsed the event. While there is still a fun element to the race for walkers, competitive runners will see their times go down in history.

The sanction allows the winners of each age group to have their event times recognised nationally.

Corporate sponsor Shoeaholics has also endorsed growing the sport in Arima.

“Arima was our first location and we wanted to give back to a community that gave us our first chance at retail...we feel that Fire Fitness is creating opportunities and contributing to building the type of community in which we want our kids to grow up,” CEO of Shoeaholics Jillan Aimable said.
