AFTER the issuance of Adverse Weather Alert #4 – Yellow Level by the TT Meteorological Service (TTMS) yesterday, forecasted for today, TT will be partly cloudy, hazy and breezy with the chance of isolated showers, while tomorrow Friday will be mainly fair, hazy and breezy.

Yesterday, meteorologist Alex Young told Newsday: “We are looking at improved atmospheric conditions over TT for Thursday 20, and Friday June 21, but we could see some lingering moisture affecting us tomorrow (Thursday) and with the lingering moisture we could expect some early morning showers and with daytime heating. Coupled with this lingering moisture, we could see the isolated heavier shower or the isolated thunderstorm over the course of the afternoon. But it’s not going to be anything adverse.”

He said, mostly sunny and hazy conditions are expected on Friday.

Young also said they are monitoring a plume of Sahara dust making its way across the Atlantic and that should be affecting us from midday, going into the latter part of this afternoon.

TTMS had originally issued a release that stated the bad weather should have eased by Tuesday afternoon, but yesterday that period of bad weather was further extended from Tuesday to yesterday when there were heavy showers throughout TT.

But the TTMS underscored that TT is not currently under any tropical storm or hurricane threat, watch or warning, despite advising that periods of rain and/or showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to continue to affect TT, with most of the activity expected over Tobago.

Meanwhile the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), as the lead coordinator of disaster risk management, remains in contact with the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government and other first responder and support agencies to ensure immediate assistance can be given if called upon due to bad weather conditions.
