EAST Zone cruised into the final of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board's Under-13 Inter-Zone Tournament with an easy six-wicket victory over South East on Wednesday.

Star of the show was East captain Yasir Deen who grabbed five wickets for 14 runs in eight overs with two maidens as South East, winning the toss and batting first, were routed for 81 in 21 of the allotted 50 overs.

Deen was well-supported by Samir Saroop who snapped up four for 22 in seven overs as the South East batsmen found the going tough at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain.

Top scorers for South East were Brendan Boodoo, who made 15, and Christian Rampersad, with 13.

In their turn at the crease, East Zone reached 82 for four in 19.4 overs with Rajeev Ramjohn scoring a handsome 48 while Joseph Madoo contributed 19 to the winning total.

The most successful bowler for South East was Ashkay Seecharan who returned figures of two wickets for 17 runs, while Oshan Gobin and Brendan Boodoo picked up one wicket apiece in the losing effort.

East Zone will now play Central who beat North in the other semi-final on Friday at the NCC.

The final is carded for Wednesday from 10.30 am at the same venue..
