Sports Minister sends condolences to St Louis' family

MINISTER of Sport and Youth Affairs Shamfa Cudjoe joined a number of people in expressing sympathy to the family and friends of former TT table tennis player Dexter St Louis.

St Louis, 51, died on Thursday after a short illness. St Louis in this country's most decorated table tennis player having played at the 1996 and 2008 Olympic Games.

In a press release Cudjoe said, "I extend heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Mr Dexter St Louis, TT's highest ranked table tennis player, whose untimely passing has truly shocked the entire sporting fraternity. Mr St Louis displayed the highest level of sportsmanship in representing our country and portrayed his transparent approach to sport and life.

"On behalf of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and the Government of the Republic of TT, by extension, I offer deepest sympathy to all his loved ones and I pray that the Almighty comforts you in this time of grief and immeasurable loss."
