PALO Seco mother of four Lizzann Forrester, who was brutally chopped alongside her parents in front of her two-year-old and 12-year-old children, has been discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital.

But her parents Leslie Forrester, 57, and Jennifer Alexander, 55 are still in hospital.

Medical sources said they were unable to reattach the father’s hand, which was severed at the wrist.

The mother is now staying with relatives and the children are receiving counselling from the police Victim Support Unit.

Relatives said the children are happy to have their mother back home but are praying for the full recovery of their grandparents, who are listed in stable but serious condition.

“We are just praying. We know they would come home soon and be reunited with us,” a relative told Newsday.

On May 5 Forrester was chopped on the neck, back, and chest. Her parents were chopped on their faces, hands, and backs.

According to a police report, around midday, a man entered the family home with two cutlasses and first attacked the parents, who were in the living room. As Forrester tried to run out of the house with her children, he attacked her from behind and she fell to the ground.

Neighbours said they realised what was happening when they heard screams. They saw the girl in the road, shaking and crying, with the toddler in her arms.

A man has since been arrested and charged with attempted murder. The matter is before the Siparia magistrates’ court.
