Castro leads Central All Stars to victory in CSL

TESHAWN Castro blasted yet another half-century for his team Central All Stars in a winning effort against Associates XI when action continued in the Jaguar Land Rover and FUSO Central Super League (CSL) played at Pierre Road Grounds, Charlieville earlier this week.

Associates XI took first strike on the evening and could only manage 129/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Kapril Harry top scored with 30 from 27 deliveries including four boundaries while Brandon Harrylochan chipped in with 25. West Indies player, Nicholas Pooran fresh off his Indian Premier League season could have only managed 15 runs and Kjorn Ottley (13). Central’s best bowlers were Kern Matheson who captured (3/22), Rishi Jaipaul (2/38) and Castro (1/21)

Castro’s decent form with the bat continued as he blazed his opponents away with a brisk 69 runs from 42 balls including five fours and six towering maximums to lead his team to a four wicket victory along with the man of the match award. Associates top performers with the ball were Nishal Guuyadeen (2/15), Stephawn Solomon (1/13) and Stephon Ramdian (1/17).

In another match-up, HKL Aranguez crushed South Boys All Stars by eight wickets in a low-scoring encounter. South Boys were skittled out for 67 runs in 16.2 overs which is the lowest score of the season recorded thus far. Marcelle Jones was the lone threat with the bat scoring 29 runs inclusive of 4 fours. Triston Singh grabbed (3/12) while man of the match Rishard Harris captured (2/3) from his four overs for Aranguez

Brian Christmas led the run case for Aranguez with 44 runs carrying his team to their target of 68 runs in 9.1 overs. Kern Ramdeen (2/17) was the best bowler for the losing team South Boys.
