TTFA announces cancellation of Venezuela friendly

THE TT Football Association (TTFA) announced yesterday that the proposed friendly international match between TT and Venezuela, scheduled for May 29 at the Sabana Grande, Venezuela, has been cancelled.

According to a media release, “This decision has come about due to the ongoing political crisis and protest actions taking place in Venezuela.”

As a result, TT will only have one warm-up match before the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, which will be held jointly in the United States, Costa Rica and Jamaica. The Dennis Lawrence-coached TT team will square off against Japan in Aichi on June 5, and will kick off thier Gold Cup campaign against 2018 FIFA World Cup representative Panama on June 18.
