Totally reckless.

This was the description given by Snr Supt Earl Elie of the TTPS Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) of a video shared on social media today.

In the video, an unruly driver is seen driving his car in the opposite direction of traffic heading west around the Queen's Park Savannah from the corner of Marli Street.

The driver was also seen occupying two lanes as he swerved from side to side trying to reverse around a corner.

In an interview with Newsday, Elie said the behaviour of the driver was a reflection of reckless citizens.

Elie said reversing for an unreasonable distance is an offence and the driver could be charged if found.

He said the driver could also be charged with reckless and dangerous driving.

“At the end of the day, the issue with these situations are the penalty for those offences. They are very small penalties which is $300 or $400. This is the reason people do these things, knowing fully well the consequences are so minimal."
