A 32-year-old Port of Spain man who was suspected of attempting to rob a St James liquor mart owner last month is still receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at the Port of Spain General Hospital and may be charged, police said.

The man, who is from the East Dry River, may be charged for robbery with aggravation, police said. Legally aggravation qualifies as any act which induces fear in a victim, the officer explained.

The man along with 14-year-old Luke Williams reportedly went to the Bournes Road Liquor Mart on April 29, to rob it, but were shot by the owner. No weapon was found on either of the men.

Williams died at the scene, while the survivor remains under police guard at the hospital.
