FOUNDER and chairman of Bhagwansingh's Group of Companies Hubert Bhagwansingh died on Sunday at 2 am at his Valsayn home. He had been ailing for a while, according to group marketing manager Baliram John.

He said almost everyone knew his wife's, Helen's name, but Bhagwansingh was the silent force who rocked back because he was confident that his family would see that things will be get done.

“He was more concerned about the manufacturing side of the business.”

Bhagwansingh left his job at the airport to begin his fledgling hardware business in Port of Spain. When the hardware burned down, he never let it stop him. He got up and his business grew even bigger.

John said Bhagwansingh worked diligently with his wife.

"She was always at the forefront, but he was there until the end. He was just an average person, loved by all his employees. He would buy doubles and share with the workers on Saturdays. He would come with a bag of sweets and give it to the children who came into the store. He was that kind of person."

Bhagwansingh had four children and seven grand children.

The Bhagwansinghs dedicated all their energy to building their business. Their dream began with the first location in Port of Spain. The success continued with outlets being opened in Chaguanas, Marabella, and Trincity.

"Bhagwansingh was at all times a pillar of strength who led, teered and masterminded the growth of the group of companies. A real practical entrepreneur with exceptional intuition and work ethic, Mr. Bhagwansingh has led the companies to the paths of success, with unsurpassed talent and perseverance. He did this while remaining humble, discreet and unselfish," John said.

He said the company will pursue Bhagwansingh's own adventure which he started over 50 years ago.
