Man picked up in St James, killed in Laventille

Police believe Travis Callendar who was shot and killed at a house in Cox Lane, Pashley Street, Laventille, may have been killed by friends or someone he trusted, after CCTV footage showed he was picked up in St James hours before his body was found on Monday afternoon.

Police said Callendar was picked up by men in a green Nissan B13 shortly after midday along the Western Main Road St James and believe it was by people he trusted.

Hours later at around 5.30 pm, officers of the Besson Street Police Street Police Station were called to a house in Laventille where residents said a man was shot.

A district medical officer also visited the scene and pronounced Callendar dead at the scene.

Callendar who is from Four Roads, Diego Martin, was not known by any of the residents in Laventille and was only identified by an officer at the scene who recognised him from before.

Police are still uncertain over a motive for the killing but are continuing inquiries.
