Burnt WPC still critical: Police to receive advice from DPP today

WPC Kelly Ann Humphrey who was doused in lighter fluid and set on fire by a male relative at their San Juan home on Sunday is still in critical condition at the burns unit of the Mt Hope hospital.

Newsday understands doctors are cautiously optimistic that Humphrey will be able to make a recovery, but felt it would be wise to "wait and see" what happens next.

Humphrey's 33-year-old husband who reportedly set fire to her is a member of the TT Coast Guard has been detained and is being questioned by police.

Police said they are expected to have a meeting with the Director of Public Prosecutions this afternoon to receive advice on how to proceed in the matter.
