Central Sports, Merry Boys battle in 50-over quarters

CENTRAL Sports will face a Merry Boys team eager to make amends after a disappointing National League two-day campaign, when the quarter-finals of the TT Cricket Board 50-over competition bowls off at 10 am, today.

Central Sports were one of the most convincing teams in the preliminary round and are one of the favourites to capture the crown. Merry Boys, a team that was demoted from the premiership two-day tournament earlier this season, are trying to find some form which has seen the club win a number of titles over the past five years. The teams will play at Invaders Ground in Felicity.

In other matches today, Clarke Road will play Alescon Comets at Wilson Road Recreation Ground in Penal and TT Prison Services Sports Club will visit Queen's Park at the Queen's Park Oval in St Clair.

The last quarter-final will be played on Thursday when BFL Sports tackle Preysal at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, from 2 pm. The semifinals will be played on May 12 and 13, before the final is contested on May 19.
