Police search businessman’s home in Gulf View

POLICE with sniffer dogs searched the home of a Gulf View, La Romaine businessman this morning.

From as early as 5 am, more than ten police cars arrived at Penny Avenue. The area was blocked off as police from the Southern Division Task Force, Special Operations Response Team, Canine Unit, and the Financial Investigations Bureau were searching.

A senior police told Newsday the house has been under surveillance for some time and, acting on certain information, a warrant was obtained.

He said they are also expected to search other houses in the area throughout the day.

On Monday, the Palmiste, San Fernando homes of United National Congress senator Gerald Ramdeen and former attorney general Anand Ramlogan were searched by officers of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau.

The two are being questioned on allegations surrounding payment of legal fees to attorneys while Ramlogan was attorney general.
