Arturo's revving for Jazz Under The Stars

THE “saxiest” horn man from the Caribbean, Arturo Tappin is in TT rearing to go at Jazz Under the Stars at Green Meadows in Santa Cruz on Saturday.

Tappin is back for a command encore as the Rotary Clubs of Port of Spain and Maraval present their annual fundraiser.

Also featured in the line-up is Digicel Rising Star 2014 winner Neisha Guy, Guadeloupe Jazz Trio JSJ, chutney master Rikki Jai and Neval Chatelal & Nishard M winners of this year’s Chutney Soca Monarch.

Tappin and Guy were at the launch of the event on Thursday evening at Kapok Hotel, Maraval, along with the organisers, sponsors representatives and they were both anxious and excited to be a part of Jazz Under the Stars.

Tappin says he will do something for everybody including the young at heart. “I intend to draw people to jazz music and make them leave with a least one memory of the evening.”

Guy on the other hand said she is looking forward to try out one of the most popular songs from this Carnival season.

“I love Kes the Band Savannah Grass, since Carnival I have done it in R&B and ballad. I just can’t wait to do it in jazz," she said.

Showtime is 5 pm and all proceeds from Jazz Under the Stars go to the service projects of the Rotary Clubs of Maraval and Port of Spain that include literacy and youth empowerment initiatives in schools cricket academies, HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and music programmes.
