UPDATE: Police delay approach to DPP, Ramlogan falls ill during questioning
Former attorney general Anand Ramlogan is said to have complained of feeling unwell so his interview with police could not be completed.
The police were expected to approach the DPP for his advice tonight. This latest development has put that on hold.
It is not certain if charges will be laid before the morning.
Police completed their interview with UNC senator Gerald Ramdeen and Anti-Corruption Investigative Bureau (ACIB) officers were initially expected to approach the DPP at about 10 pm.
It is likely that the two will be charged and appear before a Port of Spain magistrate Friday morning.
Ramlogan was arrested on Wednesday as he was about to board a flight to the BVI where he is involved in a civil case there.
Ramdeen surrendered to police hours later at about 7 am. Their homes in south Trinidad and offices were also searched Wednesday night.
The two are expected to face charges of corruption relating to the payment legal fees when Ramlogan was attorney general.
Earlier today, an alleged co-conspirator in British QC Vincent Nelson appeared in court on three charges relating to an alleged conspiracy between the three of them to financially reward Ramlogan for cases in which Nelson represented the State.
Nelson appeared before Chief Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle and he was granted his own bail in the sum of $100,000 to cover all three charges which spanned the period of the UNC-led People's Partnership Government’s term in office.
