Elderly man beaten and robbed at home in Debe

BARRACKPORE police are searching for three gunmen who tied up, beat and robbed a 68-year-old man at his Debe home yesterday morning.

Police said that shortly after 7 am, the gunmen, covering their faces with bandanas, entered the house and announced a hold-up. They beat the man who was home alone and ransacked the house.

They stole an undisclosed sum of cash, jewels and other valuables then went into in a silver-coloured car which sped off. The victim who is the father of a businesswoman, managed to untie himself and contacted police.

PCs Sujeet Ramcharan, Khan and Sandy together with other police from the Southern Division visited the scene and searched for the criminals. Up to press time, no one was arrested and Barrackpore police are investigating.
