NOMINATED last week for separate prestigious awards, one in England and the other in Canada, Allison Harvey is on a roll, having already earned many titles, among them philanthropist, entrepreneur, travel concierge and “foodie and intuitive connector.”

She is the founder and CEO of the Networking Diva Group, Woman on Fire as well as HOPE Crossing Borders, an initiative geared towards helping Haitian women and children.

The Trinidad-born Harvey, who lives in Canada, has been nominated for the Global Woman awards in London and the Waterfront Awards 2019, a red-carpet charity event to be held in Toronto in June, to celebrate the achievements of outstanding women in the Greater Toronto area (GTA).

The Global Woman summit is to be held July 13-14 and the public must vote for finalists via its website (https://voting.globalwomansummit.com). Harvey is excited to have been nominated.

“This is not a nomination about me but a light on every woman who supports what I do, my love for Haiti and the fact that this lil Trini is making waves globally,” she told Newsday.

“I will not only be going to represent myself but all that I am – a Trini living in Toronto with roots firmly in my country. I also have a heartfelt love for our sister island Haiti.”

Harvey praises her 81-year-old mother for her “first taste of business,” saying her mother had refused to buy her roller skates, so she decided to earn the money to buy them herself.

The London event is hosted by the Global Woman Club and according to its website (globalwomanclub.com), the founder Mirela Sula says the club has “no fixed rules” but one very important rule – “We love and respect each other, nor judge, criticise or discriminate.”

The club produces the Global Woman magazine, which connects professional women around the world and encourages them to raise their profile, increase their credibility and become visible to reach a global audience. The website said Sula has created clubs for women in 14 countries and helped hundreds of women unlock their potential, set their goals and achieve their dreams.

Commenting on the Waterfront awards for the category entrepreneurship and business, Harvey said she was also honoured to be nominated.

On a post on her Facebook page, she said: “Again I have no idea who nominated me but thank you. Please take a few moments to vote for me.” She publicly congratulated fellow Woman on Fire Duchess Kimberlee, who was also nominated, saying they are “small but mighty.”

The Waterfront Awards website (wwwaterfrontawards.ca) says it gives committee members a chance to recognise a roster of women with remarkable career milestones.
