Members of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) are expected to lend assistance to members of the South Western Division as they, along with other units and task forces, have been assigned to Point Fortin. Their aim is to maintain order during Borough Day celebrations this weekend.

A senior member of the IATF this afternoon confirmed that 30 members of the task force will be assigned to Point Fortin tomorrow, and will be assisting their south counterparts in conducting traffic exercises, stop and search exercises and maintaining order.

He said the IATF will also be on the lookout for known criminals from east Port of Spain, Beetham, Sea Lots and Laventille who might use the celebrations to come out of hiding.

The IATF will be joined by members of the Special Operations Response Team, the Guard and Emergency Branch and the Southern Division Task Force.

Point Fortin Borough Day was launched last week. The main event is the Saturday J'Ouvert celebration which begins at 4 am.
