THE FATHER of Honore Ifill, the 42-year-old killed in Morvant on Sunday night, said churches, which are supposed to teach morality and encourage people not to kill, are doing nothing to convince gunmen to change their ways, so they should all be closed down.

“The security services are trying their best but murders are an unforeseen thing,” said Ronald Ifill. “But the number of churches it have in this country and there is still so much killing – they should close all of them down. Every other day you are seeing fly-by-night churches opening up on every corner. They are supposed to be helping spiritually, but they are just looking for money.”

Ronald described his son as a loving father of five. While he was not working in a fixed place, Newsday was told Honore would cook and also worked as a personal security officer to make ends meet and provide for his children.

Ronald said his son was going to his home at Building One, Almond Drive, Morvant at about 10 pm when he was gunned down. Four other men were playing dominoes nearby and were wounded.

After the shooting police were told two gunmen had stormed into the area and begun shooting indiscriminately.
