Cops seek 2 for fiery puncheon attack on Moruga man

POLICE are searching for two men to question them about Easter Monday's incident in which Raymond "Abba" La Fortune, 55, of Moruga, was doused with puncheon rum and set on fire.

La Fortune, of Rock River, was moved from San Fernando General Hospital's Intensive Care Unit to the Burns Unit over the weekend. Police visited him, a report from the Princes Town police station said, and took a statement from him about the incident.

La Fortune was drinking with friends in a bar at Penal Rock Road Junction, Basse Terre Village, when an argument started with other men. La Fortune was attacked and rum was dashed on his face and chest. He fell backwards and more rum was thrown on him. The attacker then set La Fortune ablaze with a cigarette lighter.

He was scorched on the face, right side of the neck and chest and was taken to hospital, where he was treated for first-degree burns.

Police said- based on the statement from La Fortune, they are looking to question two men who were in the bar and who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.
