Psychologist: Everyone can help prevent suicide

Stigma, lack of support, and the fear of rejection were a few things that keep people from seeking help when they are suicidal.

Speaking at a TT Association of Psychologists Suicide Awareness and Prevention seminar this morning at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, Dr Margaret Nakhid-Chatoor, president of the association, said suicide was preventable. However she said the answers did not only lie in the hands of politician, researchers, and other officials, but every single person had a role to play.
