Kiel Taklalsingh, one of the attorneys representing Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha leader Satnarayan Maharaj, said he has not received a copy of the search warrant police said they relied on to search the group's offices at Pasea, Tunapuna.

The deadline the lawyers had given police to produce the warrant was yesterday.

Newsday spoke yesterday afternoon to Taklalsingh, who said up until news time he had not received the warrant or any other correspondence from Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith.

He said he will be taking advice from Maharaj over the weekend over whether judicial proceedings would be filed to compel the Commissioner to produce the warrant.

"It is our view that our client was entitled to be satisfied over the legality of the warrant and the legality of search, that there was reasonable ground to apply for the warrant. We are looking at filing proceedings against both the Commissioner of Police and whichever judicial officer granted the warrant."

Taklalsingh added that he may give Griffith another opportunity to produce the warrant to ensure fairness.

He said if no document was produced he would sue the State for breach of constitutional rights and trespass.
