Cameron unfairly criticised

THE EDITOR: I am not a fan of former Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron. However, I feel the man, who must have contributed to West Indies cricket in some way, has been unfairly criticised. Or is it hated?

Everything that went wrong in West Indies cricket, he was blamed for. The selectors, players and other administrative personnel walked away scot-free, but Cameron was blamed.

I have never seen one man vilified so; and “nailed” to a cross and stoned. Was his name the easiest to call?

Let’s face it, West Indies cricket, and I am referring to the players’ performance, is below par. It has been at its lowest ebb for years. The players are key to the West Indies cricket product, and the standard has not raised, even though they won a series against England. Then went to inconsistency.

Now that Cameron has been beaten like a snake in the fight for the presidency, let’s see if Ricky Skerritt will suffer the same fate as Cameron – blamed for everything unfairly. Let’s wait and see.
