Curepe taxi driver killed during robbery

Police are on the hunt for the killer of a 47-year-old taxi driver who was shot in the head during a suspected robbery early this morning.

Police said Kenneth Paris of Lyndon Street, Curepe, was plying his Nissan B15 car for hire at around 2 am in Port of Spain, when he picked up three passengers.

Investigators believe during the drive, a passenger pulled out a gun and tried to rob Paris near the Maritime Plaza Building, Barataria. Paris was shot four times in the head and crashed his car.

Drivers saw the crash and called an ambulance, as the bandit ran away. Paris was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he died while being treated at around 9.30 am.

An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
