Man charged with throwing urine at cops, 30 other offences

A 29-year-old Siparia labourer is expected to appear before a magistrate today charged with a total of 31 offences ,among them a series of house break-ins and larcenies, as well as throwing a bottle of urine at two policemen and threating to kill them.

Police arrested the man on Saturday and took him to Siparia police headquarters at High Street. A report said he threw the urine from a bottle at PCs Cunjal and Ramsingh, causing damage to their uniforms. He also threatened to kill them with a piece of wire which he broke from the cell and used as a makeshift weapon.

Other police confiscated the weapon. It is alleged that on April 14 at Quinam Road the labourer shot and wounded a man. Out of that incident, police from Siparia CID charged him with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, shooting with intent, having a gun and ammunition and having the gun and ammunition to endanger lives. Sgt Jaggernath led investigations and Cpl Siew laid the charges. PC Titus charged him with nine counts of robbery with aggravation from an incident on April 17 at SS Erin Road in Siparia.

WPC Joseph charged him with housebreaking and larceny of one of his neighbours at Clara Gregory Street which happened on April 18, Holy Thursday.

That same day he is alleged to have broken into the home of a woman with intent to commit a crime.

Police charged him with robbery with violence and burglary which happened on the same day, on the same street.

PC Moolchan charged him with robbery with violence against a woman at Coconut Alley and for housebreaking and larceny at Gregory Street, both which happened on Holy Thursday. Sgt Jaggernath and Cpl Sookoo led the investigations.PC Jaglal charged the man with robbery with violence at Catherine Drive which happened on April 19.
