TT remained unbeaten in the Cricket West Indies TT Women's Cricket Association T20 Tournament with two more comfortable victories, yesterday.
At the National Cricket Centre in Couva TT defeated Canada by 37 runs in its first match of the day. TT got multiple contributions with the bat as Shania Abdool (42), Alysha Gomez (34) and Shunelle Sawh (29) all showed their quality to help TT to 138/5 in 20 overs. The top bowler for Canada was Kamna Mirchandani who took 2/28 in four overs.
In reply, Canada batted for 20 overs but only got to 101/7 as TT prevailed with the comfortable win. Mahwish Khan tried her best to keep Canada in the match with 29 and Achini Perera chipped in with 15. TT were excellent in the field as four Canada batters were run out. Sawh ran out two Canada players and April Ramoutar and Abdool had one each.
Later in the day, at the Inshan Ali Park, in Preysal, Jamaica were no match for TT. Jamaica were skittled out for 30 in 11.4 overs as Djenaba Joseph and Ramoutar left the Jamaicans clueless. Joseph grabbed five wickets for six runs in four overs and Ramoutar snatched four wickets for six runs in four overs.
It could have been worst for Jamaica as at one stage it was 12 runs for nine wickets, before Kate Wilmott and Tijonae West showed some fight to put on 18 for the last wicket. Wilmott was the last player out for nine and West ended unbeaten on two.
In response, TT had little trouble getting to 33/2 in only 3.4 overs to win by eight wickets. Abdool top scored with nine and Jamaica did not help its cause conceding 14 extras.
TT and Windward Islands seem set for the final as the latter is also showing brilliant form. Today will be a rest day, before the group stage and the semifinals take place tomorrow. The final will be played at 9.30 am on Sunday.
