Support for hotspot parents

THE EDITOR: A group of parents from Laventille/Morvant coping with stress and fear due to the level of crime in these areas was taken on a retreat to Toco last week.

The retreat was organised by the Ministry of Education and included social workers who provided counselling for parents who had family members murdered and are still grieving or are traumatised because they live in these crime hotspots.

It was also an opportunity for the parents to meet and share experiences and support each other. It was a very good initiative by the ministry aa the parents can use the knowledge gained to support family members.
