Gunman fires 23 shots,hits victim 3 times

A 29-year-old man was treated at the Chaguanas District Medical Facility after he was wounded by a gunman near his Longdenville home yesterday.

Police said at around 11 am, Kerwin McKenna was walking along Lamont Street when his attacker approached and shot him three times in the left arm, jaw and leg.

McKenna ran away, but the man continued firing, but missed and ran away.

Police said McKenna ran away too, but collpsed. Nearby residents took him to the district medical facility, where he was treated and transferred to another hospital. He is listed in stable condition.

Police were called and found 23 rounds of ammunition at the site of the shooting.

No motive has been established, but police believe the shooting may be related to ongoing gang warfare.
