THE EDITOR: TT has been drawn in Group D with host US, Panama and Guyana in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
In case we forget, “all dog bad in their own yard.” We beat the US last time so they will be coming with revenge on their mind.
In our last game we conceded in the final minute against Wales. Whether we concede in the first or 90th minute is still not a good thing.
We need to engage top-level opposition. Beating “miniature” sides makes no soccer sense.
We have to win these games off the field first. In our minds. We need a sports psychologist to work with the TT team.
Let us plan ahead. A win against Guyana. A draw with Panana. Our best efforts against the US.
I have the greatest respect for our coach. I know he has the football heart. But does he have the football brain and football belly for this level of the game?
Finance is our main concern. Beggars cannot be choosers.
The talent is there. I know DJ Williams means well. When better cannot be done, the worse prevails.
Players must play with more determination. To represent TT is an honour. These are not fete matches. The results count.
I wish team TT well. Enjoy the game but remember, winning is not everything. It is the only thing.
