EXPECTING the worst about the fate of the two Freeport men still missing at sea, relatives believe their only hope is that the sea will return the bodies.

"We know what the outcome is, and we just want to find them. It is very hard as it is now.

"Today, some relatives went to the Forensic Sciences Centre for the two autopsies and others returned to Carli Bay hoping for some news, any news," said a relative of the Gyandass family who lives at Beaucarro Road in Freeport.

But up today, Siewnarine Gyandass, 51, and Vinesh Marlo remained missing since Sunday’s tragic boat trip off Carli Bay in the Gulf of Paria.

Yesterday the bodies of Gyandass’ brother Chunilal, 53, a truck driver, and their friend Ronald Narinesingh washed ashore.

Two other villagers – Kumar Lalla, 49, and Glen "Dave" Prahalad, 32 – escaped the wrath of the sea and swam ashore on Sunday night after the flat-bottomed boat they were in boat capsized and sank. The six men had gone on a fishing lime on Sunday afternoon when strong currents began rocking the boat.

Mother of the Gyandass brothers, 74-year-old Etwaria Gyandass, has been begging the sea to send back the missing men.

Relatives said the tragedy has taken a toll on her health.

"Etwaria is not doing too well. But she is praying.

"The response from the Coast Guard was very very poor – they took hours to respond. We used our private fishing boats to go searching for the men," said a relative."
