Successful SEA by MOE

THE EDITOR: Now that the annual SEA exam is over, I must commend the Ministry of Education (MOE) for efficiently administering the test to over 18,000 primary school students in the country.

I am sure this is no slight achievement given the level of organisation that has to be done to ensure that such a large-scale exam is successfully implemented.

From my understanding, this is not the first time the ministry, under Minister Anthony Garcia’s leadership, has successfully administered the SEA, which indicates to me that he and his staff are doing really great things for the education sector.

The minister’s assurance that every provision, including that for special needs students, was put in place and repeatedly tested to ensure the exam ran smoothly proved to be true. Additionally, there were concessions for special needs students to help them, in the form of Braille and large-print exam papers for the visually impaired, as well as hearing aids for the hearing-impaired pupils. There were also specially trained personnel, in the form of teaching aides, to render further assistance to special needs pupils. These are the kind of concessions, which have enabled several special needs students to excel at the SEA examination over the years and have shown to the national community that they are just as bright as the able-bodied students.

Congratulations to all of the SEA students for doing their very best and may they continue striving for success in life.
