A racist act

THE EDITOR: ONCE again the civilised world woke up to the gruesome reality of a dastardly act of super terror on our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.

The 28-year-old "sicko" Aussie man named Brenton Harrison Tarrant, who carried out a movie-like attack at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing some 49 and injuring 50-plus, has been condemned world over.

That horrendous act was seen on Facebook and, by extension, social media worldwide. It is a crystal clear fact that he wanted the world to see him carrying out this gruesome act.

Even The Pope issued a statement about this inane and inhumane White supremacist crap/act and, along with other world leaders, our very own PM and opposition leader also did same.

We as world citizens have to grow up respecting all races and all manner of religious beliefs and customs. Furthermore, we, as individuals of this already very distressed planet, need to have respect for all races, creeds, culture and gender.

It also affected the third Test match between New Zealand & Bangladesh, with the tour coming to an abrupt end as the Bangladeshi cricketers returned home.

India, Indonesia and Bangladesh had nationals living in Christchurch who were killed in this act of super terror.

Again, this centuries-old hatred of which race is better and higher as compared to the other has raised it's ugly head and we in TT cannot continue to take things for granted.

TT and authorities here need to pay proper attention to this latest act of super terror!
