Too many murderers, rapists in TT

THE EDITOR: There are just too many murderers, thieves, rapists and notorious known crooks in this nation who are allowed to use the country as a hunting ground for unsuspecting victims.

This is reflected in the daily crime reports published in the local press.

The sexual assault and robbery of the two British visitors to Tobago in broad daylight is a reflection of how primitive and daring such lawless citizens are.

Considering the size of this country with a reasonably small population and a high ratio of police, something needs to be done to stem the flow of murders and general lawlessness.

The police need to get out on regular scheduled foot patrols instead of spending most of their time driving around or in stations doing absolutely nothing that could bring about more protection and security to our citizens and visitors.

If this is allowed to continue without some draconian political measures to stop it, then citizens will in the end be seen by outsiders as mere savages with little respect for human beings or without any pride or self-respect.
