Water schedules maintained in central

THE EDITOR: Reference is made to a news article in your newspaper on Tuesday headed “Central Trinidad begs for water.”

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) wishes to state that though it is experiencing some challenges currently related to water production and distribution, due to the present harsh dry season, the areas mentioned in the article, namely Caparo, Rajkumar Trace, Sharpe Road, Santa Phillipa, Chickland Road, Todd’s Road, Brasso Piedra and Carr Trace receive a scheduled water supply over a two-day period on varying days.

WASA acknowledges that at times there may be low pressures affecting some customers located at the extremities of the distribution system in particular. Notwithstanding this, all the mentioned areas were able to receive an adequate water supply as at February 25, which was confirmed by Paras Ramoutar, when contacted by the authority.

It should be noted that WASA has also completed maintenance work at the Carlsen Field Water Treatment Plant and will be increasing production at this facility by approximately 400,000 gallons per day, and wishes to assure customers in these and other areas that it will continue to closely monitor existing and amended water supply schedules to ensure that best possible service is provided throughout this dry season.
