HDC, save us from pit bulls

THE EDITOR: Do you remember Denise Rackal? On May 9, 2011, Rackal was attacked and left disfigured by five pit bulls owned by a police officer at Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas.

Eight years after this terrible and hideous attack, residents are still living in townhouses and apartments with these dangerous dogs.

Before occupancy the rules and regulations for these homes were given to occupants, including about pets (dogs, cats etc), which stated that animals are forbidden.

As a concerned resident and parent, I am left to wonder if attacks like Rackal’s would occur again. One of my greatest fears is that an innocent person, even myself, could be a victim of these dangerous dogs.

The HDC must not wait until another person is attacked and maimed. It must take action now against residents who violate the rules of their contract and put people in danger. Weekly or monthly inspections are recommended. The HDC must check both the front and back of townhouses and apartments for illegal pets.

Please save innocent residents from these animals.

M RIVERS, Chaguanas
