Cpl Henry charged for perverting the course of justice

DARREN Henry, a police corporal with over 15 years of service, appeared before senior magistrate Indrani Cedeno in the Scarborough Magistrates' First Court on Tuesday, charged with possession of ammunition and perverting the course of public justice. It was alleged Henry, who works with the Child Protection Unit at the Shirvan Plaza police station, fired several shots in the air from his service pistol at the funeral of Junior "Copper" Roberts at Buccoo cemetery in 2017.

Roberts was shot several times while driving along Auchenskeoch Road, Buccoo, on February 5, 2017. He was the island's third murder victim for 2017.

Henry was put on $250,000 bail and told to surrender his passport. The matter was adjourned to March 26. Supt Sterling Roberts laid the charges.
