Hillview visit struggling Barrackpore in round four

DEFENDING champions Hillview College are expected to maintain their position at the top of the standings against last placed Barrackpore West Secondary at the latter's school ground in round four of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) 50-over tournament from 10 am, today.

Hillview are unbeaten this season with three straight wins to start the 2019 season. Last week against Vishnu Boys Hindu College, Hillview prevailed with a comfortable 44-run win in a shortened 31-over per side contest. Former West Indies Under-19 batsman Kirstan Kallicharan, playing against his former school, struck 86 to guide Hillview to 190 for nine batting first. In response, Vishnu could only muster 146/6 in 31 overs.

On the other hand, Barrackpore have been on the receiving end of some heavy defeats this season including a 201-run defeat to Presentation College, Chaguanas in round three. Barrackpore West were bundled out for 42 in 19.2 overs in the chase of 244 for victory. Presentation were dismissed for 243 in 42.4 overs, batting first. Barrackpore also suffered a brutal spanking against Naparima in round two by a record 394 runs.

In other matches today, Presentation College face Naparima College at Presentation ground, Chaguanas; Vishnu Boys will play Shiva Boys Hindu College at the Munroe Road Recreation Ground in Cunupia; Fatima College will journey south to tackle St Benedict's College at Daren Ganga Recreation Ground in Barrackpore.
