CEO: Visitors should feel welcome

Tourism Trinidad is preparing for the arrival of visitors for Carnival and is co-ordinating with key stakeholders to ensure their visit is a memorable one.

Tourism Trinidad chief executive officer Camille Campbell and members of the organisation met with key stakeholders last month from the Airport’s Authority, SwissPort, Airport Taxi Association, Immigration and Customs and Excise to discuss options for improving the visitor arrival experience for the Carnival experience.

In a news release, Campbell said, “We want our visitors to feel welcomed and to have an unforgettable experience for the duration of their stay with us, and this is one of many engagements we’ve had with our stakeholders to support this effort. The objectives are aligned and reflect the wider vision for Tourism in Trinidad.” She said sensitisation training had been scheduled for mid-February at SwissPort’s training facility for over 40 airport employees who will be interacting with visitors arriving at the Piarco International Airport over the Carnival season. The team has also reached out to the private sector, Port of Spain mayor Joel Martinez and Agriculture Minister Clarence Rambharat to deal with the development, promotion and marketing of Trinidad’s unique tourism offerings internationally, for the longer-term.

Campbell said the company had planned ongoing stakeholder consultations which they hoped would serve as an input to the development of its strategic plan for 2019-2022.
