Caroni man charged with guard's murder
A Caroni man appeared before a Port of Spain magistrate today, charged with last week’s murder of security guard Cleavon Frederick in Barataria.
Leon Shukla, 22, of Kelly Village, appeared before magistrate Marissa Gomez charged with Frederick’s murder as well as possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was charged by Cpl Asim Hosein of the Homicide Bureau, Region 2.
He returns to court on February 7.
Frederick, 44, an estate constable, of 9th Avenue North, Barataria, was at the Boundary Liquour Mart, Boundary Road Extension, San Juan, where he worked, when three men came in carrying guns.
One of them fired two shots at Frederick, before they escaped in a silver Nissan Almera.
Frederick was taken to hospital, where he died.
Acting ASP Sean Dilpaul and W/Sgt Belinda Sylvester supervised the murder investigation.
