Man in court for sexually touching girl, 12

A RIO Claro man appeared before a magistrate charged with sexually touching a 12-year-old girl in 2017. Jagal Bridgemohan, 42, was taken before senior magistrate Rae Roopchand on Monday. The charge read to him alleged that between the period of September 15 and 16, he touched the child in her private areas.

Bridgemohan pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was represented by attorney Subhas Panday who in requesting bail for his client said he had no criminal record. Prosecutor Sgt Mohammed did not object to bail but asked that conditions be attached to the bail.

The magistrate granted him $50,000 bail and a cash alternative of $16,000. Roopchand also ordered that he keep 100 feet from the child and not to have any contact directly or indirectly with her. The magistrate also ordered Bridgemohan to report to the Rio Claro Station every Saturday. The case was adjourned to February 25.
