One held for Prince Street shooting

A man is in police custody after he was arrested near Nelson Street, Port of Spain, for the shooting of a man this afternoon.

Police said 54-year-old Gerald Hendrickson of Diego Martin was standing at the corner of Prince and George Streets at around 2.15 pm when he was shot twice in his stomach.

Police responded to the gunfire and took Hendrickson to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Shoppers reported seeing a man running away towards the Nelson Street plannings.

One suspect was arrested minutes later and is expected to be taken to the Besson Street Police Station for questioning.
