CoP: Too many officers in stations, not enough on the streets

CoP Gary Griffith says the 2,000 police officers needed to man the 77 police stations in TT was a waste of manpower. He said those officers were needed on the streets to monitor crime instead of sitting in the stations.

Speaking during a meeting with the Arima Business Association and other concerned citizens at Arima Town Hall today, Griffith said the TTPS would soon be upgraded with an online system to report crime, cold case and missing persons units and state-of-the-art equipment to help the TTPS with its fight on crime. He said the TTPS was not perfect, but was expected to be at higher standard.
