CJ's friend denied asylum; granted humanitarian protection by UK

DILLIAN Johnson, who is said to be a friend of Chief Justice Ivor Archie, has been refused asylum by the UK.
He has, however, been granted humanitarian protection for five years.
Johnson was told of the decision of the UK Home Office on Wednesday from a member of the Cardiff asylum team on behalf of the secretary of state.
Johnson fled to the UK on December 29, 2017, and made a claim for asylum the next day.
According to the correspondence, the reason for refusing Johnson asylum was because he failed to prove his claim of persecution because of his sexuality and to silence him.
“In light of all the evidence available, I have decided that you have not established a well-founded fear of persecution so you do not qualify for asylum. Your asylum claim is therefore refused …” Johnson was told.
The correspondence also said, “Your claim for asylum has been considered and the material facts of your claim have either been accepted, rejected or found to be unsubstantiated by comparing the evidence you have given with the information we have available about your claim and country.”
Humanitarian protection is a form of protection available to those not eligible for refugee status, who do not have a right to subsidiary protection but cannot be removed from national territory because of objective and serious personal situations.
