Young, who is the ‘we’?

THE EDITOR: I believe in Trinidad and Tobago but I am not sure if many of our politicians and their followers do! Concerning the Sandals withdrawal, my question for Minister Young is, who are the “we” he refers to when he says that “we are not giving up?”

Is it the “one we” that constitutes the inhabitants of T&T, who deserve leadership that recognizes the need to fix our fragmented - along so many lines – society? Do our politicians think that there is such a “we?”

Now that the Sandals Brand of destination tourism has withdrawn interest in setting up shop in Tobago because of - according to its CEO Gebhard Rainer - “the negative (local) publicity surrounding the project,” will a “one we” find its rightful place and propel both Trinidad and Tobago to make sensible decisions not just in the area of tourism but also in the overall governance of our twin island state or, will it be recorded that Tobago, as of today’s date, would have become the victim of divisive political foes only to be renamed Tobagone?
