THE son of a retired senior policeman appeared before a San Fernando magistrate charged with the December 29 kidnapping, rape and robbery of two young women.

Anniece Ravello, 28, of Corinth Hills, Ste Madeleine, the fourth man to be charged, was denied bail today by magistrate Alica Chankar.

The charges were that on December 29, along the M2 Ring Road in Debe, he kidnapped two women and then raped them. He was also charged with grievous sexual assault.

Revello was also charged with using personal violence and armed robbery of cell phones, $40 and a pair of earrings valued $300.

The charges were laid indictably by PC Sheldon Gosein of the San Fernando CID and Ravello was not called upon to plead.

He was represented by Shaun Teekasingh, who requested bail. Teekasingh said his client had two previous convictions, for both of which he paid fines.

The attorney said his client, who is the son of a retired police inspector, also assisted police in their investigations, which resulted in the arrests of the other three men.

Teekasingh said his client was threatened and was now concerned about his safety.

Prosecutor PC Cleyon Seedan objected to bail owing to the seriousness of the offences. The magistrate agreed and advised Ravello to apply to a judge in chambers for bail.

On Tuesday, Rueben Thomas, 20, of Diamond Village appeared before the magistrate and the same charges were read to him.

Last week Joshua Williams and Jerod Boysie also faced the same charges.
